Optus Projects

Background

Braetex works alongside Optus to deliver telecommunications infrastructure
decommissioning as legacy network assets are retired and replaced with modern
technology. Our experienced crews manage LPS removal, hardline cable extraction, and service drop decommissioning — all delivered to Optus's technical specifications and Australian safety standards.

Infrastructure Installation

LPS (Lead-in Protection System) Decommissioning

Lead-in Protection Systems protect telecommunications cables at the point of entry to a premises. As Optus retires its legacy copper network, redundant LPS hardware requires safe removal and make-safe works. Braetex carries out LPS decommissioning to Optus's specification — including pre-works site assessment, hardware removal, make-safe of entry points, and completion documentation and photography.

Hardline Decommissioning

Hardline coaxial and copper cables form the backbone of Optus's legacy network infrastructure. Our teams manage the safe removal of aerial and underground hardline cabling across residential, commercial, and industrial environments — including traffic management, removal of associated pole hardware, site restoration, and responsible cable disposal and recycling.

Service Drop Decommissioning

Service drops connect the Optus street network to individual customer premises. Where premises have migrated to a new service or connections have been permanently ceased, redundant service drops require safe removal. Braetex manages service drop decommissioning across residential and commercial sites — disconnecting and removing drop cables, making safe all aerial attachment points and premises entry hardware, and completing all required handback documentation.

Safety and Compliance

All Braetex crews working on Optus projects hold current industry certifications and operate under documented safety management plans. We meet Optus's contractor prequalification requirements, carry comprehensive public liability insurance, and deliver work to the quality and documentation standards required by Optus's network operations teams.
